Canterbury -- The West Gate
This is the only remaining gate tower of the four or five main gates to the ancient Roman city of Canterbury in Kent, England. It survived road widening because it was used as a prison; it is now a fine little museum. Cars now pass into the city by the gateway (one lane), and out of it where the town wall was torn down next to a medieval church.
