![]() Berwick is interesting in another way for its very fine Elizabethan fortifications -- pre-Vauban versions of ravelins, bastions mounting huge cannons, and counterscarps. One of the best surviving town defences of this sort in England. This is WELL worth seeing, even though the town has no ATM machines (at least it didn't in 1988). | ||
