Lord Scrope's fabulously expensive castle/manor house which took 18 years to build. Very elaborate with lots of kitchens and brewhouses, etc.

Some 14th Century conspicuous consumption (but Scrope was Lord Chancellor to Richard II and a crook). Although there is no moat and the castle is at the bottom of a slope -- so never meant as a fortress -- it is still very well defended by strong walls and towers. Was this guy Scrope paranoid? Still, it's a very attractive castle.
